“Engraver with master technique” is written about him in the Benezit Dictionary of Artists to remind that Albert Decaris was awarded the Prix de Rome in the engraving category in 1919. Then followed a wonderful career which led him–unique fact–to engrave 174 postal tamps for Metropolitan France, and hundreds more for foreign posts. He also illustrated around forty books classified amongst the masterpieces of contemporary bibliophily.
