Like André Favory, he died too soon, leaving too much regret to the numerous admirers his talent gathered. This was verified in 2014 during a retrospective organised by the Museum of Roubaix, the Fine Arts Museum of Nantes, the museum of Bergues and the Museum of Oise Department in Beauvais: Amédée de La Patellière was a painter and draughtsman with a powerful character. Gérard Schurr said he was the author of a “rustic and realist art, Jansenist and severe” which has found its audience.
